Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, announced on Monday that Arun Srinivas has been appointed as the Managing Director and Head of Meta in India. His appointment will take effect from July 1.
Currently leading Meta’s India ads business, Arun Srinivas brings significant experience to the role at a crucial juncture for the tech giant. According to his LinkedIn profile, Srinivas has played a key role in driving the company’s advertising growth in India, a priority market for Meta.
This leadership change comes at a time when Meta is navigating a challenging regulatory landscape in the country. In November, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) imposed a fine on Meta for alleged anti-competitive practices. The CCI also placed a five-year restriction on WhatsApp, prohibiting it from sharing user data with other Meta-owned platforms for advertising purposes.
