trategic Vision for Coastal Growth

The Government of Odisha has launched an ambitious initiative to transform its maritime landscape by inviting global investment in key coastal infrastructure projects. With a 574.71-kilometer-long coastline, Odisha presents immense potential for maritime trade, tourism, and industrial development. The state is now seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from international investors to take part in the construction and operation of non-major ports, cruise terminals, multipurpose harbors, shipbuilding and repair facilities, and container terminals.

Key Coastal Sites Identified for Development

As part of this visionary plan, eight strategic coastal locations have been earmarked for phased development:

These sites were selected based on their geographic advantage and potential to boost regional trade and connectivity. Each location has been studied through detailed connectivity planning, environmental impact assessments, and traffic projections to ensure sustainable and efficient development.

Odisha Maritime Board Leading the Charge

Spearheading this initiative is the Odisha Maritime Board, which is actively promoting the program under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework. The goal is not just to expand port infrastructure, but also to create employment, attract industrial investment, and position Odisha as a premier maritime hub in India. The board is committed to ensuring transparency, innovation, and eco-friendly practices throughout the development process.

Opportunities for Global Investors

This is a golden opportunity for investors looking to enter or expand in India's growing maritime economy. By participating in Odisha’s port development program, investors can leverage the state’s strategic location on the Bay of Bengal, existing industrial ecosystem, and pro-investment policies.

Interested parties can access the comprehensive EOI document via the Odisha Maritime Board’s official website. The government invites stakeholders across the globe to join in shaping the future of Odisha’s maritime sector.

A Sustainable Marine Hub in the Making

Through this forward-looking initiative, Odisha aims to emerge as a modern, sustainable, and innovation-driven maritime destination. With the right partnerships and infrastructure in place, the state is poised to become a central node in India's coastal economic growth.
